Technical and Historical Notes

"I made the best Gundam I possibly could... a mastepriece called the Gundam Deathscythe. The others are a fluke." - Professor G

When the five scientists who designed the XXXG-00W0 Wing Gundam Zero in AC 180 went their separate ways, each of them took copies of the plans for their original Gundam design. Professor G, who went into hiding in the L2 colonies, then went on to design and build his own Gundam based on their original plans. With the assistance of an underground scavengers' guild known as the Sweeper Group, Professor G built a Gundam that specialized in stealthiness and close-quarters combat. His creation was called the XXXG-01D Gundam Deathscythe, and it proved to be a true mechanical terror when it was launched to Earth to fight OZ during Operation Meteor in AC 195.

"Gundam 02," as the Deathscythe was code-named by OZ forces, was equipped with standard vulcan guns and machinecannons for ranged weapons. However, its primary armament was its large, deadly beam scythe, capable of slicing through enemy mobile suits like a knife through hot butter. The Deathscythe also carried a "buster shield," which mounted two solid blades and a beam blade and could be launched spinning into a target for a rather messy, destructive effect. But in order to use these weapons effectively, the Deathscythe was also equipped with a "hyper jammer" ECM system, making the Gundam invisible to various types of electronic sensors, thus allowing the mobile suit to slip in and attack when the enemy isn't looking. The Deathscythe's pilot, Duo Maxwell, became well known as the "God of Death" for his mastery of these stealthy strikes.

[1]The Head and Hands are small targets , and are difficult to hit.  Therefore, even with a called shot, they are -3 to hit.

[2]Destroying the Head Sensor Unit will disrupt the Gundam Deathscythe's ability to receive radio signals and has a 50% chance of destroying the radar and laser tracking systems. This will eliminate the bonuses for Strike and Dodge.

[3]Depleting the MDC of the Main Body will disable the Gundam Deathscythe. At 50% the Hyper Jamming System will fail, and the Deathscythe will become visible.

[4]Stats for the Beam Scissors Shield are listed in the Weapon Systems section.

[5]If the Backpack Thurster Unit is destroyed, the Deathscythe cannot fly.

Speed

Reactor: 3000 kilowatts
Running: 100 mph
Leaping: 50 feet up or 100 feet across(Note: Leaps in space are increased by a factor of 10.)
Leaping: (Thruster Assisted) 150 feet  up, and 300 feet across(Note: Leaps in space are increased by a factor of 10.)
Thrust: 30,000 kilograms
Flying:
In Atmosphere: 300mph with a 10,000 foot ceiling

Weapon Systems

  1. Beam Scythe: is a high energy weapon designed for maximum destruction, used close in.
Location: Hand Held in combat, stored behind the back when not in use.
    Primary Purpose: Assault
    Secondary Purpose: Defense
    Weight: 500 pounds.
    Range: melee
Mega Damage: 1D4 x 100 MD per hit
Rate of Fire: Equal to the Pilot's Hand to Hand
Payload: 15 minutes of activity before the scythe shuts down and needs to recharge.

  2. Head Mounted Vulcans
Location: 2 Barrels, One on either side of the head
    Primary Purpose: Assault
    Secondary Purpose: Anti-Missile/Defense
Range: 4000 feet (1220m; Double  in space)
Mega Damage: 6D6 MD per Burst
Rate of Fire: Equal to the Pilot's Hand to Hand
    Payload: 25 Bursts

  3. Shoulder Mounted Vulcans The secondary weapons system of many Mobile Suits, located on top of the Gundams Shoulders, on top of the units Torso.  They can fire singly, but are typically used in linked fire mode.  The weapon is fixed forward on the Gundams body, so the weapons fires at whatever the chest is pointed at.
Location: 1 Barrel on either side ot the gundams upper torso/shoulders in Soldier Mode
    Primary Purpose: Assault/Anti-Personnel
    Secondary Purpose: Anti-Missile/Defense
Range: 3000 feet (910m; Double in space)
Mega Damage: 4D6 per Single Burst; 8D6 per Double Burst
Rate of Fire: Equal to the Pilot's Hand to Hand
    Payload: 25 Bursts

  4. Beam Scissors Shield: A shield and weapon combination that can be used to parry attacks, and then launched to slice through opponents.  When fired, the forward scissors spread open, and a beam similar to the beamscythe activates, allowing the unit to slice and bore throught targets.
    Location: the left arm
    Primary Purpose: Defense
    Secondary Purpose:
Range: 1000 feet (303m; Double in space)
    MDC: 200

Other Systems:

1. Hyper Jamming System: this system functions like a cloaking device, and renders the Gundam Deathscythe virtually invisible to electronic detection. (gives the Deathscythe a +2 bonus to initiative, and works like ECM)
