Technical and Historical Notes
|
The second of the advanced "Gundam" mobile suits to reach the battlefield of the seventh space war, the Gundam Airmaster GW-9800 was equipped with a unique system, never before seen on a Federation design. The "Trans Loading System" enabled the unit to transform between two modes, aircraft and mobile suit. This adaptation allowed the unit to fly in the atmosphere like a conventional Jet Fighter, and then convert to the second mode for normal mobile suit combat. It was equipped with only the head vulcans for internal weaponry, but was given a pair of "buster rifles" that could be used in both modes, and were devastating to enemy craft. Like it's sister units, the Gundam Leopard GT-9600, and the Gundam X GX-9900, the Gundam Airmaster was equipped with a "flash system" that allowed a Newtype pilot to remote pilot the mobile bit units called FW-9800's.
Although an unknown number of FW-Bits were manufactured, they are all believed to have been destroyed at the end of the climactic battle with the Rebellion.

[1]The Head and Hands are small targets , and are difficult to hit. Therefore, even with a called shot, they are -3 to hit.
[2]The Head Sensor Unit (located at the top of the head) is very small and extremely difficult to hit. Therefore, even with a called shot, they are -5 to hit. Destroying the Head Sensor Unit will do little to disrupt the unit, as it is being remotely piloted from another location.
[3]Depleting the MDC of the Main Body will disable the GW-Bit
[4]When in Jet Mode, 1/3 of all damage done to the Main Body is transferred to the Nose.
