Technical and Historical Notes
|
At the height of the Seventh Space War, the Old Earth Federation was rushing to develop Mobile Suits to match the superior numbers of Mobile Suits being deployed by the Space Revolutionary Army. Their first attempts, the DT-6800 Dautap Series, had proved pitifully under-powered in dealing with the more advanced units of the SRA . The Federation then poured it's resources into the development of three new, and highly advanced Mobile Suits. These units, the GT-9600 Gundam Leopard, GW-9800 Gundam Airmaster, and the GX-9900 Gundam X. All three units were equipped with the newly developed "Newtype Flash System." This system allowed a "Newtype" pilot to control dozens of remote contol bit units; these "bits" were essentially un-piloted Mobile Suits, hence the name "Mobile Bits."
The GX-9900 (also called the GX), and it's FX-9900 Bits, were the last of the Gundams to reach the battlefield, and were equipped with the most powerful weapon ever developed by either side in the conflict. The "Satellite Cannon." The Satellite Cannon was powered by a Super-Microwave Energy Beam, eliminating the need to carry a large power pack onboard the Gundam itself.
Although an unknown number of FXs were manufactured, Newtype pilot Jamil Neate controlled a large number of them during the Seventh Space War in a failed attempt to stop the Space Revolutionary Army's mass colony drop operation. Most of the FX units were critically damaged in this battle, with the GX command unit of Jamil Neate also suffering near total destruction.
A stockpile of FX units was part of the classified "Operation L," which used the stasis preserved body of Jamil's Newtype Teacher, Luchilu Liliant as their controller. Jamil attempted to recover Liliant, and used the GX-9900-DV to fight the New Federation Forces, led by the Frost Brothers. Liliant merged her powers with Neate, and the two of them controlled the FX units, to destroy or drive off all of the Federation units. Jamil then destroyed all the FX units, and allowed Liliant to die in peace, returning her mortal remains to the Sea of Lorelli.

[1]The Head and Hands are small targets , and are difficult to hit. Therefore, even with a called shot, they are -3 to hit.
[2]Destroying the Sensor Antenna will disrupt the FX's ability to receive radio signals and has a 50% chance of destroying the radar and laser tracking systems. This does little to slow the unit, however, as it is being remotely controlled by a Newtype in another unit.
[3]Depleting the MDC of the Main Body will disable the GX-bit.
[4]Depleting the MDC of the Satellite Cannon Backpack, or destroying 2 or more Energy Collector Wings will disable the Satellite cannon, and render the FX-9900 incapable of flight.
