"It's true the Satellite Cannon is an awesome weapon, but at times it can be too powerful. We can't use it all the time, can we? So, what I think we need is some type of variation which can fit many situations." Kid Salsamille
Following the leads to another Newtype generated by Tiffa Adill, Jamil and the Vulture crew of the Freeden travelled to Fort Severn. Here they encountered the towns protector, Artificial Newtype Pilot Caris Nautilus. Far from needing rescue, Nautilus is serving as the head of the towns military forces, and pilots the extremely powerful RMSN-008 Bertigo mobile suit. During a pitched battle in the snow, Garrod's Gundam X was brutally damaged by the Bertigo and it's remote controlled Bit Weapons. To save Garrod and the GX-9900 from total destruction, Tiffa surrendered herself to Nautilus, allowing the Freeden to recover the GX, and save Garrod.
Kid Salsamille, the Freedens mechanic, surveyed the damaged unit, determining that the Satellite Cannon was a complete loss. Kid happily began the refit of the GX-9900, using parts he'd salvaged and scrounged for months. When the refit was complete, most of the Freeden's mechanics had passed out due to exhaustion, but they had created a powerful new Gundam. The GX-9900-DV Gundam X Divider.
This new Gundam had 2 Beam Swords, a Double Barrel Beam Machine Gun, Improved Vernier Thrusters, and the prototype "Divider" shield, that now mounted a Beam Harmonica (13 linked beam guns) as well as extra thrusters. This new unit was a great improvement on it's parent unit, the GX-9900. Allowing for better control in urban combat settings, than the Satellite Cannon equipped unit could manage.
Kid Salsamille would continue to make improvements to the unit, and would eventually alter it so that it no longer required the "G Controller" that all the GX units needed to operate. This was done primarily so that Garrod could pilot the newly captured GX-9901 Gundam Double X, while still leaving the GX-9900-DV operational.

[1]The Head and Hands are small targets , and are difficult to hit. Therefore, even with a called shot, they are -3 to hit.
[2]Destroying the Sensor Antenna will disrupt the Gundam X Divider's ability to receive radio signals and has a 50% chance of destroying the radar and laser tracking systems. This will eliminate the bonuses for Strike and Dodge.
[3]Depleting the MDC of the Main Body will disable the Gundam X Divider.
[4]If the Saber Holder Vernier Thruster Unit is destroyed, the GX-9900 Divider is incapable of flight (without the help of the shield)
[5] If the Gundam X Divider looses it's shield, or the shield is destroyed, it's flight speed is reduced to those of a normal GX unit.(see GX-9900 Gundam X description) When the GX-DV is using the shield for flight, it is +1 to dodge in the atmosphere, and +2 to dodge in space.
