Historical Notes

Towards the end of the 7th Space War, the Space revolutionary forces introduced the RMSN-008 Bertigo; a mobile suit designed for use by Newtype pilots.  The unit has  a number of internal weapons, as well as 12 small bit units that each mount a powerful beam weapon.  Although individually, they may not inflict much damage, together, they can be devastating.

The original intention of the first group using the Bertigo's was to land six of the units on the earth, along with the giant Mobile Armor, the MAN-003 Patulia, and wreak havok.  In the process, though, the Newtypes who were suppossed to protect the Patulia were killed, and the mission failed.

Fifteen years later, the last known Bertigo would be piloted by the  artificial Newtype Caris Nautilus.  Nautilus would use his Newtype powers to destroy the GX-9900, and nearly kill it's pilot, Garrod Ran.  Days later, Garrod would attempt a rescue of Tiffa Adil, in the rebuilt GX-9900 DV Gundam X Divider, destroying the bit units, and defeating Nautilus.

Months later, Nautilus would join the Freeden Crew, in their struggle to survive the murderous New Federation, and would continue to use his Bertigo to fight for his friends.

[1]The Head and Hands are small targets , and are difficult to hit.  Therefore, even with a called shot, they are -3 to hit.

[2]The Head Sensor Unit (located at the top of the head) is very small and extremely difficult to hit.  Therefore, even with a called shot, they are -5 to hit.  Destroying the Head Sensor Unit will disrupt the Bertigo's ability to send and receive Radio signals and will cripple the Radar and Laser Tracking systems. This will eliminate the bonuses for Strike and Dodge.

[3]Depleting the MDC of the Main Body will disable the Bertigo.

Weapon Systems

  1. Internal Beam Rifle arms: The long, extended arms of the Bertigo are actually the internal beam rifles.
    Location: each forearm
    Primary Purpose: Assault
    Secondary Purpose: Defense
    Range: 4000 ft (1220m; Double in Space)
    Mega Damage:  2D6 x 10 MD per Blast
    Rate of Fire: Equal to the Pilot's Hand to Hand
    Payload: 30 blasts per e-clip

  2. Shoulder Machine Cannons: The weapon is fixed forward on the Bertigos body, so the weapons fires at whatever the chest is pointed at. 
    Location: 1 Barrel on either side ot the suits upper torso/shoulders
    Primary Purpose: Assault/Anti-Personnel
    Secondary Purpose: Anti-Missile/Defense
    Range: 3000 feet (910 m; Double in Space)
    Mega Damage: 4D6 per Single Burst, or 8D6 per Double Burst
    Rate of Fire: Equal to the Pilot's Hand to Hand
    Payload: 25 Bursts (per gun)

  3. Beam Saber(2): Effectively a large energy sword.
    Location: the Saber is stored inside the  extended forearm armor, and projects from there when in use.
    Primary Purpose: Melee
    Range: Melee
    Mega Damage: 4D4 x 10 MD
    Attacks per Melee: Equal to the Pilots Hand to Hand
    Payload: Capable of operating for 3 minutes on a single charge.

  5. Bits:  A small beam weapon that flies arround the main unit, under the control of the newtype pilot.
    Location: Mobile, 6 stored in each arm, for a total of 12
    Primary Purpose: Assault
    Secondary Purpose: Defense
    Range: 4000 ft (1220m; Double in Space)
    Mega Damage:  2D6 x 10 MD per Blast
    Rate of Fire: Equal to the Pilot's Hand to Hand
    Payload: 30 blasts per bit, before the unit needs to recharge.
